FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1WHAT IS AN ESCAPE GAME?
It's a themed room full of clues and puzzles that must be solved in order to escape the room. You have 60 minutes to work as a team to solve your way out. It's fun for families, parties and great for team building.
2IS IT SCARY?
Nah. Although some of the themes have serious missions, we're focused more on using your brain power than testing your fear factor. Your adrenaline will be pumping but because you're challenged, working against the clock and having fun!
3WHAT HAPPENS IN THE ROOM?
The room is your playground to explore, observe, uncover and unravel the codes, clues and puzzles. Open doors & drawers, look under furniture, move items around. Investigate your surroundings thoroughly but not destructively, please!
4AM I REALLY LOCKED IN?
No. For lots of reasons, we do not actually lock you in the room. If there's an emergency, you can always leave but the game will end when someone opens the door. Our gamemasters also monitor each room and are in regular contact with players.
5ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED?
Sure! Escape rooms are great fun for kids and they have proven to be great assets to family teams! We recommend it for kids 10 and older and ask that adults accompany kids under 16. We discourage bringing kids much younger than 10 unless you are sure they can stay focused on puzzle-solving for a full hour.
6HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The game itself is one hour but you should plan on 1.5 hours for the whole experience. You'll need to arrive 15 minutes before your game time for an orientation and after the one hour game, there's another 15 minutes or so for the game debrief and team picture.
7HOW DO YOU ACCESS YOUR FACILITY?
Escape This is at 120 E. Wilson St., Suite 2. You enter our space through the door on the right-hand side of the building (look for the orange lights). Once you enter the building, we are located down a flight of stairs. Unfortunately, our building, built in 1925, does not have an elevator so you need to use the stairs to access our space. 1WHAT IF I'M LATE?
Hmm. That will be a problem. The games are on a tight schedule and will start without you. You cannot enter the game once the game has started. So please plan accordingly (remember it's downtown!) and be in our lobby 15 minutes before your game time for the orientation.
2WHAT IF IT'S TOO HARD?
The best way to escape is to make sure your team communicates and collaborates. However, sometimes you need a little help from your friendly game master who is watching your every move. You can request and earn hints during the game that help you toward a successful escape.
3WILL I BE GROUPED WITH OTHER PLAYERS?
No! All games are private so you only play with those in your group! Please note that because we guarantee private games, we do have room minimums, either 4 or 6 person bookings depending on the game.
4CAN I BOOK TIME OUTSIDE OF YOUR NORMAL GAME SCHEDULE?
Sure! We do that often for corporate groups and organizations who like to come during the work week for team building and for private parties of 8 or more.
5CAN YOU HANDLE LARGE GROUPS?
Give us a call at 608-217-8181 if you have a large group or special event. Whether it's a corporate outing or private party, we can create a custom experience involving multiple games (we have 5!), coordinate catering and work with you to accommodate special requests.
6ARE TICKETS REFUNDABLE?
Similar to when you purchase tickets for a concert or a play, tickets are non-refundable. We're holding a space just for you!
